Typhoid fever is a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease transmitted through contaminated food and water, especially prevalent in areas with poor sanitation. Vaccination should be given at least two weeks before travel.

Additional precautions: Practise food safety by consuming only thoroughly cooked foods, avoiding raw or undercooked meat, washing fruits and vegetables with clean water, and avoiding tap water, ice cubes, and street food from unhygienic sources.

Risks caused by typhoid: Typhoid presents symptoms similar to food poisoning. Without prompt diagnosis and treatment, it can result in permanent disabilities or death.
